Can You Change the Color of a QR Code Safely?
Yes. Keep contrast high and test the scan after you recolor it.

Safe color changes
Brand colors work when the modules stay much darker than the background. Pastel on white, or yellow on white, often fails outdoors.
Test
Download the PNG and scan it in daylight and indoors. If one phone fails, darken the foreground on qrfyy and export again.
Pairs that usually work
Black on white, navy on white, and dark green on cream scan reliably. Light gray, yellow, and orange on white often fail in daylight. Keep the three corner finder patterns the same dark color as the rest of the modules.
Check the exported file
A preview can look fine while a compressed PNG on a colored background does not. Download, place it in the real design, and scan that file with the scanner. Contrast, logo size, and glare are in 7 mistakes that stop a scan.
FAQ
Can the background be a photo?
Only if the code sits on a flat light area. Busy photos hide modules.
