How to Scan a QR Code on iPhone and Android

Use the phone camera. This is not a guide to scanning inside a browser.

iPhone

Open the Camera app and point it at the code. A banner appears when the camera recognizes it. Tap the banner to open the link. If the camera does nothing, check that the code is lit and large enough, and that the lens is clean.

Android

Many Android phones scan from the camera app. Others use Google Lens or a scanner in the quick settings. The label differs by phone. Point at the code and tap the link the phone shows. qrfyy does not control that system screen.

When you already have a picture of the code

To read a PNG or a photo in the browser, use the qrfyy scanner. That page is separate from this one. This guide is about the phone’s own camera.

If the camera sees nothing

Move closer, add light, and flatten a curved code. A blurry photo will fail in the camera and in the browser scanner. Neither one repairs the image.

FAQ

Do I need an app?

Recent iPhones and many Android phones scan from the camera. If yours does not, use the scanner page and upload a photo.
