This policy describes the scan information Dynamic QR codes can store. Static QR codes are created in your browser and are not sent to qrfyy.
Static QR codes
The homepage generator and the bulk tool build the image on your device. qrfyy does not receive the WiFi password, vCard, or destination you type into those tools.
Dynamic QR codes
A Dynamic QR code stores a short link on qrfyy, such as https://qrfyy.com/d/AbC123, plus the current destination URL, a name, status, and the times it was created and updated. Ownership is an owner key. qrfyy stores only a hash of that key, not a name, email, or account profile.
Scan information
When someone opens an active Dynamic QR link, qrfyy can store:
- Date and time of the scan
- Device category, such as phone, tablet, or desktop
- Browser family and operating system family, taken from the browser鈥檚 user agent
- Country, only when the network sends a country header. qrfyy does not look up a precise location
- Referring page host and path, when the browser sends one. Query strings are dropped
qrfyy does not store the full IP address, the raw user agent, or the person鈥檚 name. The IP may be used in memory for a short rate-limit window and is not written to the Dynamic QR record.
Why it is collected
Scan details exist so the owner can see whether a printed code is being used, and so qrfyy can limit abusive traffic. They are not sold.
How long it is kept
Scan events are deleted after 90 days. Deleting a Dynamic QR code removes its scan events. The short code is kept in a removed state so the old print shows a qrfyy page instead of an error.
Cookies
Creating a Dynamic QR code sets an httpOnly cookie named qrfyy_owner so this browser can manage the codes later. You can also copy the owner key and use it on another device. The site theme choice can be stored in local storage. Static QR creation does not require either one.
Deletion
Delete a code from the Dynamic QR dashboard, or deactivate it to stop new scans. To ask qrfyy to remove a code you cannot access, contact the qrfyy Facebook page and include the short link.
